KINGS
(written by Chris Bousum 7-22-98)

Boldy into the throne room,
Samuel spoke to Saul,
or Jeremiah to Zedekiah
the prophets had to tell them all.
The human heart is wicked
doing evil and everything.
The state of fallen man
is best witnessed in the ones they called...

      KINGS
      wearing gold jewelry and rings.
Serving their lust, pride, and greed.
      it sounds a little like...

Wise old King Solomon
built a temple to the Lord.
By his lust for foreign women,
began to serve their gods more.
Some of the kings were Godly,
most were in idolatry.
It seems the gods of infidels
fit better with the wishes of ...

      KINGS
      wearing gold jewelry and rings.
Serving their lust, pride, and greed.
it sounds a little like KINGS...

They took advantage of the poor
and took bribes from evil men.
They heard the word of the Lord against their sin
but would not repent of them.
They kept the altars of idols
and practices God forbids.
They led their kingdoms into evil
until God had to punish them, they were...

      KINGS
      wearing gold jewelry and rings.
Serving their lust, pride, and greed.
      it sounds a little like...

We learn the ways of truth
Yet find a way to lie.
We put off repenting of our sins
until we fear that we might die.
We take advantage of those around us,
condemn those who do such things,
We are faithful to serve OUR interests
Doesn't that make US a little like...

      KINGS
      wearing gold jewelry and rings
serving their lust, pride, and greed.
it sounds a little like ME
      wearing gold jewelry and rings
serving MY lust, pride, and greed.
      it sounds a little like..

FATE
(written by Chris Bousum 1998)

He digs the silence, he swears he can hear his fate.
Brought by the wind, he listens closely so it won’t be too late.
Until then, still and quiet…he sits there at any rate

      When will he learn?
      You buy nothing
      You don’t earn.

She stares at the phone…she knows that it will ring.
So she sighs, always so certain, she’d bet anything.
Won’t blink an eye, don’t want to miss, the fortune that it may bring.

      When will she learn?
      You buy nothing
      You don’t earn

                              FATE
                              It comes down to fate.
                              The fate
                              I’ve made.
                              Im afraid,
                              Trying to persuade,
                              The choices I’ve made,
                              from becoming my fate.

One tick of the clock, has added up to years and more.
Cant look back to notice doubts now, of what you’ve waited for.
Risk losing track of what you’re wishing, coins covering the well floor

      When will you learn?
      You buy nothing
      You don’t earn.

                              FATE
                              It comes down to fate.
                              The fate
                              I’ve made.
                              Im afraid,
                              trying to persuade,
                              the choices I’ve made,
                              from becoming my ...

FATE I BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ARE,
OR IS WHAT I AM, MY WISHING STAR,
SO WILL THIS WISH COME TRUE FOR ME,
IF MY HAND STEERS MY DESTINY,
AND IF THAT’S TRUE, IS WHAT I DO
                                      MAKING ME, MAKING YOU…

                              FATE?
                              It comes down to fate
                              The fate,
                              I’ve made.
                              Im afraid,
                              Trying to persuade,
                              The choices I’ve made,
                              From becoming my fate.

Inches of Veil
(Written by Chris Bousum, 1998)

My feet, move undaunted...
blistered by the hard earth and stone.
Your temple, awaits me...
Your glory, I want to know.
Though I know, when I get there...
I will fall short of my quest.
The curtain conceals you.
Despite trying my best...

These inches of Veil, restrain me...
I'm left short on the scale.
    I've traveled miles of earth,
    stopped by inches of veil.
    Inches of veil.

It's an act of injustice,
the inequities this life must teach.
I could not, have tried harder...
but You remain out of my reach.
Or is it an act of mercy...
what if I could span the gap,
and be found face to face with You,
accountable for all that I lack...

These inches of Veil, restrain me...
I'm left short on the scale.
    I've traveled miles of earth,
    stopped by inches of veil.
    Inches of veil.

If allowed, I would humbly,
kneel at Your veil and then place...
my hands on your curtain,
holding it to my face.
Longing to be with you...
Longing to have you near,
but aware You are Holy,
in my shamefulness I fear...

These inches of Veil, restrain me...
I'm left short on the scale.
    I've traveled miles of earth,
    stopped by inches of veil.

These inches of Veil, restrain me...
I'm left short on the scale.
    I've traveled miles of earth,
    stopped by inches of veil.
    Inches of Veil.
I See You
(Written by Chris Bousum, 1999)

Oh, you've tricked me for the last time.
There was so much I didn't understand.
I saw the stitching in your facade,
altering my perception...

For the first time,       I SEE YOU!
    You're visible,            I SEE YOU!
The lights on,             I SEE YOU!
I SEE YOU...               I SEE YOU!

I went backstage before thre 3rd act,
to see what was being done.
Identities changing like October leaves...
I wish I came before act one.

For the first time,          I SEE YOU!
    You're visible,               I SEE YOU!
The lights on,               I SEE YOU!
I SEE YOU...                 I SEE YOU!

Can you catch the symbolism?
Don't be surprised at what I say.
I thought we'd always be together...
now that I've seen, please go away...

For the first time,        I SEE YOU!
    You're visible,             I SEE YOU!
The lights on,             I SEE YOU!
I SEE YOU...               I SEE YOU!

For the first time,      I SEE YOU!
    You're visible,           I SEE YOU!
The lights on,           I SEE YOU!
I SEE YOU...             I SEE YOU!
